Tasmania's spectacular scenery means that roads often cross rugged and mountainous terrain. Your trip may take longer than you think so plan ahead to allow enough time to comfortably reach your destination.

If you need to consult your map, or really enjoy the view, carefully pull off to the side of the road and stop.

Many native animals wander onto our roads at night, and are a potential threat to your safety and their own. So when the sun drops, so should your speed. Drive to suit the road conditions, and survive to enjoy your holiday.
